Sept 4th to October 3rd 2015
Gallery 133 presents an exhibition of works from three series Water Rock Erosion by the well respected painter Rhonda Whitehead..
Rhonda has exhibited widely since leaving the Royal College of Art in the early 70’s having 35 solo exhibitions here and abroad.
“ Nature is the source of each of the paintings working as she has in the wetlands of Norfolk the Waveney Valley, the River Bure, the Northern Territory and the Barrier Reef in Australia and more recently in Europe.
We perceive subtle shifts as if physical bodily movement, is altering the perspective. Life forms become a painted calligraphy in an expression of joyous relation to nature. The Australia paintings are the result of a pilgrimage to the centre of Australia in 1996.
The warm brown solidity of these paintings are a stark contrast to the cool aqueous quality of the water series.
Recent work records the eroded walls of buildings, surfaces in the built environment.
Whitehead’s painterly approach awakens our interest in all manner of physical and climatic exchanges we read on the surface of buildings “ ~ John Grande
We look forward to welcoming you and your friends to this very important exhibition.
